Simple Summertime Mantel & Vintage Jar

This past Saturday morning I was in a baaaaad spot. I was stuck at home with the kids, no cash for yard sales, and a solid 15 minute drive to the closest ATM–which at the time seemed completely daunting with two kids in tow. So what’s a girl left to do but scour the house for loose change. I was literally gathering quarters and dimes from the most random places when I stopped myself and realized I.am.nuts. I mean, who does that? Really. I was like an addict desperate for my next fix. It was ridiculous. Needless to say it didn’t happen that day. But I’ll be better prepared next weekend. Lesson learned, my friends. So what does that have to do with today’s post? Well today I’m sharing a simple summertime mantel and the star of the show is a lovely old old vintage jar I found while out junkin’ recently. I’m so excited share with you how I styled this purdy little jar on our mantel. Pieces like this one are what make me a crazed yard sale addict! And I’m ok with that.

How perfect are these sweet little peaches for summertime?! I adore this jar. Borderline obsessed actually. I did some Googling to find out more about it, but I didn’t come up with much. So if you know how old it is please tell me in the comments below! I think there’s just something so beautiful about a simple glass jar like this. I have several of them now–you might have seen the one I’m using in our master bathroom to store bars of soap. That one has a special story, so take a peek if you missed it. And if you’re curious about those yellow flowers, they are from Hobby Lobby.

Now onto the rest of the mantel. I wanted this look to be super simple and easy, with the focus really being on the old jar and those cute peaches. Nothing fancy happening here, which is the way I like it.

Old books. Because I can’t style any mantel in life without using old books. And spindles. These two items are perfect for bringing a bit of symmetry to any mantel look.

So there you have it! Easy breezy summertime mantel. And a perfect spot to show off my new jar. I tell ya, there are few things I enjoy more in this life than the thrill of finding new goodies while out junkin’. Call me crazy, or really boring, but it’s seriously one of my favorite things to do. Have you found any awesome pieces recently? Let me know in the comments below, I’d love to hear about your junkin’ adventures. And be sure to track me down on social media, you can find me sharing all the things on Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest. xoxo

Love the mantel. I’m always looking for ways to update mine. I find it difficult to come up with ideas but you’ve given me a few. And great junkin finds recently old baskets and old braided rug. Love your posts thanks for sharing.

You really know how to work your magic! I love the jar (could they be apricots?!) and I never would have guessed these weren’t real flowers! Love, love everything—you inspire!

i feel the same way about junkin’, sarah!! i inherited it from my dad. my mom says that he and i would go out every trash day when i was just 2 or 3 years old. i would stand on the seat next to him with my arm around his shoulder (this was back in the mid 50’s before seatbelts but somehow i survived!) there’s nothing more fun than scouting around on trash day and you find the most amazing things. and yard sales and estate sales – my heart goes pitty pat. enjoy! it costs almost nothing and you are saving pieces of history….

My sweet sister gave my this vintage window frame for Christmas, and ever since I thought it would look so pretty with some little bottles of flowers hanging from it. Summer was the perfect time to try it, all the little blooms are from my garden, and it inspired a new Simple Summer Mantel.
