It’s no secret that I love to move things around in our home. A LOT. I know some people might think I’m crazy to do that, but it’s something I’ve always enjoyed doing. I have so many memories of rearranging my bedroom countless times throughout my childhood. And I would beg my mom to let me do the same in our living room. I guess it’s how I’ve always been. And I actually find it to be really therapeutic in a lot of ways. The process of freshening up a space by simply moving a few things around to create something new is really energizing for me and I’m almost ALWAYS in a better mood afterwards. Well this weekend I got a little quiet time to do some much needed freshening up in our dining room and it was awesome. I ended up moving that giant pie safe out and changing a few other small things, as well as hanging a new set of botanical prints that I’ve been dying to show you guys. It looks SO much better and so fresh and clean. I LOVE it, so I wanted to share it today!
Ahhhhh. This room makes me want to take a deep breath and relax. It’s SO clean and simple. I moved out that giant antique pie safe from this corner in order to really downsize a lot of the extra stuff in here. It was so big and bulky. And it kind of weighed down the entire room, if that makes sense. I love how open it feels in here now without it.
Another big change is the new artwork hanging on the wall. I actually found these French botanical prints at a local antique shop and I was smitten immediately. Like head over heels in love. I adore everything about them. The black frame. The simple yellow flowers. The vintage vibe. ALL OF IT. They’re just perfect. I don’t have any artwork in our home, which is kind of crazy, so these are a nice change. And I love the way the black frames look on the white walls.
Usually I like to keep a table runner and dishes set out on this table just so it looks a bit more put together. But I cleared all of that away and I love this simple, clean look. I also did a very small centerpiece with fresh white roses and one of my favorite candles for summer. And side note–this table was one of the very first big chalk painting projects I shared here on the blog. You can see the transformation in this post. I still love it several years later and I’ll probably have it forever.
It’s kind of crazy how just a few little changes made this space feel so much brighter and fresh. A lot less cluttered and more simple. I love the new botanicals prints too and I think the dining room was the perfect spot for them. And I gotta say, after changing up this room I kind of want to go into every other room in our home and simplify it. Take away the extra stuff and have more on a minimalist approach. That sounds pretty darn good actually!
So glad you stopped in today!! Here’s a few other posts you might enjoy:
