I’m mixing things up around here today and sharing an easy recipe for chia seed and honey no-bake protein balls that are absolutely delicious. I know this isn’t my normal post, and you’re probably wondering what in the heck I’m up to, but one of my goals for the new year is to bring a bit of diversity to my blog. Of course I love sharing my obsession with home decor and DIY, but I also want to chat about other things I love from time to time. And I think fun Friday is the perfect day to do that! Now I’ve been making these protein balls for years now and they are my easily my favorite healthy snack. Even my kids love them. They’re loaded with fiber, protein, and lots of omega-3 fatty acids. But best of all they are seriously soooooo yummy.
This recipe includes one of the coolest foods in the world: chia seeds. At the risk of completely boring you, I have to take a minute to be a dork and rave about the power of these magic little seeds. You guys, chia seeds are insanely good for you. They’re considered one of the world’s best “super foods”–loaded with tons of vitamins and nutrients, fiber, calcium omega-3 fats, and antioxidants. And you can put them in just about anything–yogurt, cereal, smoothies, etc. Seriously, there are magical and you should be eating them. There’s plenty more I could say, but I’ll keep it short and sweet because you’re probably glazing over right now. Just Google them if you want to learn more.
Chia Seed and Honey No Bake Protein Balls
- 1 cup all natural almond butter
- 1 tablespoon black chia seeds
- 4 tablespoons honey (best honey in the world here)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- pinch of salt
- 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder (I love the Jay Robb Whey Protein)
- This is kind of tricky, so good luck.
- Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl.
- Roll into balls.
- Place on baking sheet and refrigerate.
This recipe makes about 15 balls. I recommend storing them in the refrigerator.
These are seriously my favorite snack. No joke, I have to stop myself from eating them because I could eat the entire batch in like 2 days. If you’re trying to eat healthier for the new year, I suggest you whip these up pronto. They’re not overly sweet, they’ll give you great energy throughout the day, and they’re crazy good for you. I actually love eating these with my breakfast in the morning. They’re great with a few hard-boiled eggs, some fresh fruit, and a cup of coffee. Or these also make a great option for your mid-morning snack. Maybe an afternoon pick-me-up. Or possibly an after-dinner treat. You get the idea. They’re AMAZING.
Thanks for dropping by today my friends! I plan on sharing more posts like this on Fridays–maybe my favorite skincare products, makeup must-haves, or just more easy recipes. Whatever strikes my fancy at the moment! Let me know if there’s anything you’d like to see in this fun Friday spot–I’d love to hear it. And don’t hesitate if you have any questions at all. Now go make these and let the know what you think!
